Design
I've worked in design and tech since 2004 in Toronto, Geneva, London and San Francisco. I currently work and reside in Menlo Park, California.
I started my career by sneaking into the multimedia lab at the McMaster U campus, where I worked on html websites, Flash ads and wedding videos. K-Ci & JoJo still haunt me to this day. This is where I learned not to ask for permission.
After graduating, I wandered around Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Cuba. After 6 months of being lost, I found my way to the CFC Media Lab and the National Film Board of Canada where I worked on an interactive film and a series of digital art projects. I worked with artists, film directors, developers, and curators. This is where I learned that anything is possible.
After graduating from business school, I worked with the World Wild Life Fund to develop a strategy and process for the Finance Innovation Lab. I also developed a suite of web communication tools for their community. This is where I learned what true collaboration is all about.
Following, I worked as a User Experience Design consultant at Hot Studio, where I helped the Yellow Pages re-envision local search. I also worked with a financial services company to re-design their security architecture. This is where I learned about the craft of human-centered design.
With humility and audacity, I currently design products for people at Facebook. This is where I learn everyday.

Community
Design means nothing if it doesn't mean change. Change means nothing if it doesn't affect people. Here are few projects that I've worked on for and with the communities I care about:
Designing for People – A panel I produced with Tom Hobbs (Facebook), Jon Lax (Teehan + Lax) and Ana Serrano (CFC Media Lab) to discuss what it takes to design with a people centered approach.
Just Good Business – This was a series of short videos I produced, capturing Small Medium Businesses around the UK, who told their story of doing just good business through sustainability initiatives.
The Geneva Forum on Social Change – A conference in Geneva exploring innovative approaches to social and economic change. The yearly event brings together remarkable participants from around the world and uses the power of film, interactive workshops and panel discussions to encourage meaningful exchange within the development sector.
Company & Co.
Since 2008, my husband Patrick and I have worked on a number of projects together. We made it official and made a company out of it. Past projects include but are not limited to the following:
SQFT – Connecting idle spaces with good ideas so they work with real people. In 2012, the City of San Francisco, the Impact Hub and American Express collaborated and put together Creative Currency, a hack-a-thon which brought together designers, developers and community organizers to address the socioeconomic challenges in mid-market, San Francisco.
City Pixels – A panel series that explored how new forms of mobile technology has shaped the urban experience. In April of 2013, Mark Dwight (Rickshaw Bags) and Kevin McKenzie (Westfield Labs) discussed The Future of Retail at Hot Studio in San Francisco. This was one of a series of talks, which also included The Future of Real Estate.
Real Escape Game T.O. – Our biggest effort yet has been to bring the Real Escape Game from Kyoto to San Francisco to Toronto. Our fearless General Manager and super human Michael has led our team to great success, selling out games for 12 months straight. Realescapegame.ca
